PHOTOBOOK ADVENTURE

CREATIVE WORKSHOP

at Fotomuseum WestLicht 

This creative workshop, organized in cooperation with bookbinder and graphic designer Anna Frey, is aimed at children and young people and is thematically connected to the current WestLicht exhibition Under Water. We combine a lively exhibition visit, simple and accessible forms of photography, and creative book design into an exciting photobook adventure.

Together, we will explore image motifs from the underwater world and gather visual inspiration in the museum’s exhibition spaces, which will serve as starting points for the creative work. From stories about the Austrian diving pioneers Hans and Lotte Hass, to the special photographic equipment used for underwater cameras, to fascinating animal photographs and film material, we will follow the traces of humanity’s fascination with the oceans and their ecosystems.

After a short break, the children will develop their own leporello (accordion-style book) in the second part of the workshop. Using paper materials, collage techniques, and simple bookbinding methods, they will create an individual adventure journal in which they can incorporate the impressions they experienced in the exhibition.

Note:

The workshop takes place as part of the WIENXTRA Kinderaktiv program and is intended for children aged 7–13. Parents or guardians consent to their child’s participation. Parents and accompanying persons will have the opportunity to visit the photography exhibition at a reduced admission price directly after the workshop ends.
